The answers to your questions

  • What is EMS and how does it work?

EMS stands for "Electro Muscular Stimulation". From a technical point of view, it is a full body training exercise using     impulse current. In everyday life our central nervous system constantly sends electrical impulses to control our muscle action. EMS uses this natural principle and is able to intensify this process to reach deeper muscle layers, which are hard to activate through conventional training. This is achieved by applying EMS electrodes to the skin directly above the muscle. All in all you can call EMS simply a selective intensification of electrical stimuli from the outside. You gain the best results if you work out actively while using our EMS device. Muscles are additionally stimulated through the electrodes while doing a series of low-impact exercises. This combined training leads to an additional increase of tension producing highly effective training results. Your personal trainer can control each muscle group by adjusting the training intensity according to your individual goals. With EMS you achieve visible and tangible success in a very short time.

  • Why is the XBODY  EMS different from the typical TV-Shop-EMS machine?

The XBODY is able to stimulate all major muscle groups of your body simultaneously and does not only target one specific muscle group like typical TV-Shop-EMS machines. The EMS training with XBODY usually takes place in standing positions, actively performing low impact exercise movements. With the XBODY each muscle group can be stimulated and exercised separately according to your goals and needs. Agonist and antagonist are always stimulated at the same time, which means that you are able to activate 90% of the whole muscle loop between two electrodes, including the deep muscle layers. 'Cheap' EMS machines operate on one particular frequency with a preset time (usually 0.5 second) settings for impulse – rest method (the time for construction and the time for rest for the muscle cell). Our Machine operates on a different frequency, depending on the training and muscle groups as the muscle tissue also differs from the location on the human body. Our machine at training mode keeps 2-4 seconds rest time between the 3-4 seconds impulse.

  • Why is XBODY training more effective than conventional fitness training?

Electric stimulation training takes place in high intensity areas. During EMS training with XBODY, 90% of all muscles between two electrodes are activated simultaneously with EACH contraction cycle. In addition, the muscle contractions are stronger and more intense than a voluntary exertion can do alone. Compared to conventional weight training, also the deeper muscles are being activated which leads to better intra- and inter muscular coordination. Based on these scientifically proven facts, you achieve highly effective results in a short period of time. Considering the contraction time and -intensity for the trained muscles, the effect of up to 20 minutes training with XBODY is comparable to several hours of conventional weight training, which in turn means quickly visible and tangible results.

  • How much time can I save through EMS training with XBODY?

A general gym workout, including a warm-up, averages 1-1.5 hours per session. To see and feel results, you need to train at least 2-3 times a week, which adds up to six hours or more per week. Many people cannot afford to spend this required amount of time getting fit and keeping in shape. With XBODY you only need up to 20 minutes per week to get comparable results to several hours of conventional weight workout.

  • Is EMS training dangerous? Does the current harm your body?

No. The use of low frequency impulse current is widely used in training and rehabilitation therapy. Muscles are electro chemical organs and need electrical impulses from the central nervous system to contract. EMS technology uses this natural principle but is able to intensify the contraction by applying electrodes directly above the muscle.

  • What kind of frequency is used ?

XBODY machines work with low impulse frequency. Our muscles do not differentiate between a natural impulse from the brain or an external impulse via an electrode.

  • Can anyone do EMS training? Should I avoid EMS training if I have certain conditions?

Most people can use EMS training but if you have a health condition which prevents you from participating in conventional sport then you must definitely get approval from your doctor.

The absolute contraindications are:

-Heart pacemaker

-Pregnancy
-Severe circulatory disorder & arterial circulatory disorder
-Abdominal wall or inguinal hernia
-Tuberculosis
-Tumor diseases
-Arteriosclerosis in advanced stadium
-Diabetes mellitus
-Severe neurological illnesses (epilepsy, multiple sclerosis)
-Fever, acute bacterial or viral infections
-Bleedings (hemorrhages) & heavy bleeding tendency (hemophilia)

If you suffer from any of the above conditions please consult your doctor to obtain medical approval before starting with EMS training.

  • What does Sport Science say about EMS training?

Numerous studies at the University of Bayreuth (2002 – 2003) and Erlangen-Nürnberg (2009), at the German Sporthochschule Köln (2008), as well as the heart clinic in Bad Oeynhausen (2010) have shown the effectiveness of EMS training. Trained and untrained people achieve visible and tangible results in very little time. As a matter of fact, not only general muscle-building is achieved: EMS-training works excellently for increasing an athlete's speed, due to the fast twitching (FT) muscle fibers being activated first by the external impulse. EMS also works great when certain areas are targeted: for example buttocks, stomach or back, especially for reduction of back pain. Furthermore and most importantly: EMS – unlike conventional training – puts no stress on the joints.

  • Why is EMS so effective?

During EMS training, 90% of muscles are activated simultaneously with EACH contraction and the muscle contractions are stronger and more intense than a voluntary exertion can do alone. Compared to conventional weight training, deeper muscle groups are activated which leads to better intra and inter muscular coordination. Based on these scientifically proven facts you achieve highly effective results in a short period of time.

  • How long has EMS technology existed?

In 1902 a French researcher invented the first stimulation machine which he used successfully to treat muscle atrophy/paralysis. More research followed and 70 years later two Russian scientists, Kotz and Chwilon, proved the outstanding results of muscular stimulation on human beings. Their experiments showed a 30-40% increase of muscular strength with minimal physiological and mental efforts in a short period of time. Back then EMS training was mainly used in therapy for the treatment and rehabilitation of muscle atrophy and muscle imbalance and in professional sports to improve performance. Training with electro muscular stimulation these days is a popular and proven training method which enjoys fast growing popularity all over the world.

  • Can you lose weight with full body EMS-training?

Nowadays "losing weight" and "getting slim", which is weight and fat diminution, is usually tackled with (one-sided) diets. At the attempt to save (excessive) calories one-sided and maladjusted eating habits are frequently switched over to. This often leads to a short-term diminution of the weight though at the expense of the increased reduction of muscular tissue. The combination of wrong nutrition, lack of exercise or exaggerated endurance training leads to "undesirable developments in the body metabolism". In a deficiency situation the body keeps its fat stored in order to still have sufficient reserve powers in emergencies. A so-called yoyo effect often appears after the completion of the diet since a reduction of the basal metabolism of the body has arisen by the muscle tissue reduction and more calories are now taken excessively again. At the attempt of the weight reduction by endurance training the negative effect of the deficiency is left aside, but no muscle mass is built up either. However, the work volume is increased, but not the basal volume. A fall in the muscle mass is often established at frequent endurance training, too. The work musculature is reduced. An effective and continuous diminution of weight and body fat is possible with XBODY by the construction of fat-free muscle mass. Due to the high metabolic activity during and still lasting for hours after the EMS training a high work volume is caused and the basal volume increases long-term through a gain of muscle mass. With a parallel proceeding healthy nutrition weight can be reduced appropriately and sustainably. By a weight and fat diminution it can be noticed that women training with XBODY also realize a diminution of the girth primarily in the area of the problem zones: Waist, hip and thigh. A tightening of chest and arms can also be carried out.

  • EMS for body shaping

-Cellulite: Anti-cellulite treatment needs activity and stimulation. Instead of only treating the surface, EMS activates the muscular and connective tissue in its entirety which leads to better circulation and the reduction of superfluous fat cells. The result is a firmer, tighter body!

-Fat & padding: EMS training is an optimal solution for lasting weight-loss and fat removal. Healthy eating alone is not enough - you need effective, regular training to reduce fat in problem areas. With EMS training you can focus on specific problem areas, like your stomach, waist, hips, thighs, etc.

-Improved circulation: EMS training enhances circulation through all connective tissue which helps improve skin tone; the removal of metabolic byproducts and toxins in the lymph glands. It also helps stimulate internal organs and peristalsis. Wellbeing made easy!

  • EMS for rehabilitation & health

Wellbeing at all levels: EMS training has a therapeutic effect as it promotes a feeling of physical and mental wellbeing.

-Pain reduction: Back pain is the most common ailment among the general population. One of the main causes is muscular imbalance in the torso caused by poor posture and a sedentary lifestyle. EMS training targets and strengthens the deeper layers of the torso muscle group which helps alleviate back pain as these deep muscles are difficult to activate with conventional methods.

-Rehabilitation and mobility: After injury or an operation, your muscle volume and strength decreases. Training with EMS provides optimal support when it comes to gently rebuilding a specific muscle or muscle group. All exercises can be performed in either a horizontal or a standing position.

-Incontinence: Bladder weakness is a common and embarrassing condition. EMS training can prevent and relieve incontinence by strengthening the pelvic floor muscles after just a few sessions. EMS training is especially beneficial for women suffering from post-pregnancy bladder weakness.

  • EMS for professional sports

-Performance and sport: XBODY is the perfect backup for athletes: The EMS training device in combination with conventional training methods quickly leads to a new level of power and high-speed performance. This training is especially interesting for athletes whose type of sport is governed by speed as specific speed training is needed.

-Muscle formation and definition: XBODY uses electro muscle stimulation to achieve stronger and more intense muscle contractions than a voluntary exertion can achieve alone. Depending on intensity and individual goals, you can build muscles and achieve better definition while also making them stronger and more responsive – your muscles simply become more efficient.

-Strength and training: With EMS training you gain strength in a shorter period of time. Individual adjustment of intensity, duration and frequency helps achieve personal training goals quickly, effectively and consistently – no matter whether it's increasing maximum strength or improving endurance and overall fitness levels.

  • Why do we need an isotonic / energy drink?

Because such an intense speed workout can be mobilized quickly and your energy supply can almost immediately be used. The energy drink of minerals and vitamins help ensure that the entire workout is done properly to maintain your energy during your workout thus helping you to bring the most out of you!

  • Why do we need to drink a protein shake?

Because of Speed 36-48 hours after your workout your body begins to increase calorie consumption! However, the calorie consumption is equal to the fat burning! The protein shake helps nourish your muscles to increase calorie consumption.

  • Why only a 20-minute workout?

That's because a 20-minute workout is made of over 38,250 pieces of each contraction muscle group, including the deep stabilizing muscles as well! It's about a normal gym workout. More than a 20 minutes workout is overtraining and will  exhaust your muscles completely.

  • Why do I need to take a break of two days between workouts?

Because the speed is so intense and the strength training corresponds to your body's recovery which you need. If you train too often, on the one hand you would cause overtraining to your body and on the other hand, you will not have the same results. Two or three day breaks in between workouts are recommended for best results.

  • Why should I attend regular XBODY training?

Because you can only achieve results if your muscles are regularly exposed to the strain of the training. If there is too much  rest between two workouts results will take longer! It is important to allow muscle recovery, but it is also important not to completely relax your muscles. If you have a goal you want to achieve, you can insert an optimal workout every 2-3 days!
